Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought the Haystack brewery in Amsterdam on February 15, 1864. In 1873, the HBM (Heineken’s Bierbrouweij Maatschapij) was established, and the first beer is brewed, with the brewery’s name being changed from Haystack to Heineken. In 1875, Heineken won the Medaille D’Or at the International Exposition in Paris, then began to be shipped there regularly. Heineken sales topped 64,000 hectolitres (1 hectolitre = 26.418 U.S. gallons) and it was the biggest exporter to France. In 1889, Heineken receives the gold medal of honour at the World Exhibition in Paris. In 1990, Heineken received a special Jury Prize in Paris.

Arthur Guinness


Arthur Guinness (1725 – 23 January 1803) was an Irish brewer and the founder of the Guinness brewery business and family. He was also an entrepreneur, visionary and philanthropist.Arthur Guinness was born into the Protestant Guinness family, part of the Anglo-Irish aristrocracy.They are claimed to descend from the Gaelic Magennis clan of County Down.Recent DNA evidence however suggests descent from the McCartans, another County Down clan, whose spiritual home lay in the townland of “Guiness” near Ballynahinch, County Down.

Adolph Kohrs was born in Barmen in Rhenish Prussia on February 4, 1847, the son of Joseph Kohrs (c.1820–1862) and Helena Heim (c.1820–1862). His mother died on April 2, 1862. The Kuhrs family moved to Dortmund,Westphalia. In July 1862, Adolph was apprenticed for a three-year period at a brewery owned by Henry Wenker in Dortmund. Early in 1868, he emigrated to the United States. He sailed from Hamburg to New York City and then moved to Chicago arriving on May 30, 1868. His name was changed from “Kohrs” to “Coors”. He worked in the spring as a laborer, and during the summer he worked as a brewer.He became foreman of John Stenger’s brewery on August 11, 1869, in Naperville, Illinois, about 35 miles west of Chicago. He resigned from Stenger’s brewery on January 22, 1872, and arrived in Denver in April. He worked in Denver as a gardener for a month, then on May 1, 1872 he purchased a partnership in the bottling firm of John Staderman. In the same year he bought and assumed control of the entire business.

Luigi Moretti opens Brewery in Udine in 1859, when the Friuli was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He has 37, he comes from a family of wholesalers and brings long whiskers. The year 1860 after a year of tests, experiments and attempts,the factory of Luigi brings out the first bottle of Birra Moretti. Birra Moretti was an Italian brewing company,  in 1996 the company was acquired by Heineken International. The brewing plant in Udine was sold to the newly formed Birra Castello S.p.A.; Moretti is now a brand of Heineken.

Samuel Adams is the brand name for beers produced by the Boston Beer Company and its associated contract brewers. The company was founded in 1984 by Jim Koch and Rhonda Kallman in Boston,Massachusetts, USA.The brand name of Samuel Adams (often abbreviated to Sam Adams), was chosen in honor of Founding Father Samuel Adams, an American revolutionary patriot who authored the Massachusetts Circular Letter and theBoston Pamphlet, co-inspired and later publicized the Boston Tea Party, and who signed the Continental Association, the Declaration of Independence, and the Articles of Confederation. According to tradition, Adams was also a maltster.Based on sales in 2011, the Boston Beer Company is tied with Yuengling for the largest American-owned beermaker.
